Share the Dignity - It's in the Bag Charity Drive
Hornsby RSL Club is proud to announce we are participating in Share the Dignitiy "It's in the Bag" charity drive. The Club will be a collection point for donations from Friday 22nd September to Sunday 26th November 2023. All donations can be left at Member Services via our Front Foyer.
What is "It's in the Bag"?
It’s in the Bag is one of Australia’s most loved Christmas appeals, where we encourage everyday Australians to put together bags filled with essential items, and maybe some everyday luxuries, to donate to someone in need for Christmas. We want to ensure women, girls and those who menstruate, who are waking up in a domestic violence refuge or homeless shelter on Christmas feel a little bit of love and hope.
What you can donate
Help aid those in need by donating such items as shampoo, conditioner, general hygienic items and any extra special items such as make-up, perfume and skin care or to start putting together a full bag! For us to build a bag, there is a different list of essentials you can find below. By donating a few items, you're making Christmas brighter for someone in a domestic violence refuge.

Items to donate for a Teen Bag
Period Products for small bodies, Shampoo, Conditioner, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Deodorant (roll-on preferred) & Soap or Body Wash
Optional Extra ideas
Scrunchies, earphones or headphones, duffel bag, make-up, movie tickets or pass, jewellery or gift cards. Why not add a handwritten note or card to give a personal touch to your special donation?

Maternity Period Products, Shampoo, Conditioner,
Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Deodorant (roll-on preferred), Soap or Body Wash, Newborn Nappies, Breast Pads, Baby Shampoo, Baby Soap/Wash, Disposable Nappy Bags, Baby Wipes, Dummy, Nappy Rash Cream

Please tag your bag using a purple ribbon.
Please note: All items included in the bag must be new and in sealed packaging for health and safety reasons. Please do not include: Pharmaceutical items (condoms, throat lozenges, paracetamol etc) | Razors/knives/ scissors | Food or drinks | Loose tampons and pads or unsealed menstrual cups.
About Share the Dignity
- Share the Dignity works to make a real, on-the-ground difference to the lives of women, girls and those who menstruate who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, domestic violence or poverty. We distribute period products to those in need and work to achieve menstrual equity here in Australia. When someone is doing it tough, the last thing on their mind should be dealing with their period.
We are proud to partner with over 3,000 charities nationally, helping them to assist the women, girls and those who menstruate who desperately need access to period products. This is achieved through our Dignity Drives and Dignity Vending Machines. We also collect and distribute bags filled with essential items to the people we support at Christmas time through our annual It’s in the Bag campaign.
